Minnehaha Parents & Families,

We are in quite a busy stretch here at Minnehaha, as we wrap up Trimester 2 and dig in for the uninterrupted stretch before Spring Break.  With Trimester 2 coming to close on Friday, we shift into the final third of the year already!  Wow!

A few weeks ago we held our annual Family Tech Night.  Over 350 people filtered in to this event.  We trust and hope all of you who joined us had a fun time engaging in some of the technology that your students are accessing, interacting with other students & families, and enjoying the free meal provided by some of our local faith-based partners:  The Gathering Place, First Presbyterian, and Garden Grove.

Just this past Tuesday, we held a “first ever” event – Parenting Tips night.  In partnership with District and community presenters, quite a few of you took advantage of the free daycare (and yes, another free meal!) and came to join us for these break out sessions.  While I wasn’t able to be present, I have heard some wonderful words of appreciation.  Special thanks to Kristi Hickey, Aiko Chappel, and Savannah Larson for making this happen!

And today – we celebrated another year of Green Eggs and Ham with our first graders!  Thanks to ongoing, generous donations from Beaches Restaurant, our first graders once again experienced a genuine green eggs & ham breakfast.  What a wonderful, well-attended event.  This event is always a good time – lots of smiles & laughs.

Now that iReady Winter assessments have finished up, it is almost time to shift over to the state’s Smarter Balanced Assessments, which will begin shortly after we return from Break.  Be watching for more information regarding these assessments from your child’s teacher (grades 3-5 only).

And finally – Trimester 2 report cards will be going home on March 16, which will be here before we know it.

Happy March!

Troy
