Minnehaha Parents & Families,

Happy Holidays!  This time of year is exciting and fun for our students, but it can also be challenging for our students to stay focused and on-task.  Every day of instruction is important, and our teachers & students will be working hard through the end of next week – tying up new concepts before the Break and also taking some time for important review.  Of course, there will also be opportunities to enjoy the excitement of the season as well!

Attached in this newsletter you’ll find some information/updates regarding the upcoming February Vancouver Public Schools levies, as well as a reminder again (below) about our recess/playground visitor update starting after Winter Break.

From all of us at Minnehaha to you and your family – have a very Wonderful Winter Break!

Troy

Recess/Playground reminder:

At Minnehaha, we truly believe in the concept of it takes a village…  Having said that, we also continually strive each and every day to ensure that we fully ensure a safe & supportive environment for our students every moment of the school day.  While there will remain ample opportunity for parents & families to coordinate with classroom teachers to come and volunteer in the classroom, and our cafeteria will remain fully open for parents & families who wish to join their students for lunch, starting in January our playground at recesses will no longer be an area for parents & families to come and hang out with their child.

Parents & families will continue to be able to come and join for lunch in the cafeteria, but will not continue on outside with our students.  As a building staff, after much discussion, we have arrived at this decision with the absolute best interest of students at heart and in mind.  We hope and trust that you will understand, and will be happy to connect further as we initiate this shift in practice starting after Winter Break.
